ATWATER'S "VILLAGER OF THE YEAR" AWARD: NOW ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS

The Atwater Village Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for the 7th Annual "Villager of the Year" Award. This annual award, determined by community nominations and presented annually by the Atwater Village Chamber of Commerce, is to honor someone “whose noteworthy good deeds has served to preserve the uniqueness of our community or improved those areas that needed improvement.”

The only requirement for nomination is that the nominee's good deeds must have helped Atwater Village in some capacity. Submit nominations by September 19; provide candidate's full name and business, contact information (both yours and the nominee's) and a paragraph description (no more than 100 words) of why you believe they should be named the "Villager of the Year."

FLETCHER DRIVE “ROAD DIET” – COMMUNITY MEETING

The City's "Vision Zero" program, administered by the Department of Transportation, is spearheading efforts to bring some type of pedestrian/bicycle safety improvement to Atwater's section of Fletcher Drive. Specifically between the La Clede Ave and the 5 Interstate Freeway. The planned improvement is believed to include a "road diet" of some type or vehicular traffic lane reduction.

They are holding a community meeting in Glassell Park (see flier below) to discuss planned improvements and hear from the community. There is no community input meeting planned in Atwater Village despite the direct impact it has on our community. So this may be the only meeting where Atwater Villager's can provide input, thus we strongly urge you to attend

What: Fletcher Drive – “Vision Zero” Meeting
When: Tuesday, June 13th, 2017 –
6pm to 8pm
Where: Goodwill Community Enrichment Center, 3150 N. San Fernando Rd (Blair Pence Room)
